A photo story of Sunrises and Sunsets

By Shweta

The powerful golden rays diminish ever so softly. The skies light up as if on fire as nature uses this canvas with enigmatic strokes of vivid hues of red, orange, and coral pink.

There’s something beautiful about chasing sunsets. I have forever been a fan of the play of colors in the sky at twilight, there’s something enchanting about them. I started 2020 with a promise to catch more sunrises and sunsets, and it is unimaginable how no two sunsets or sunrises are the same. Even when it is from the same place, it is so gloriously different every single time.

As humans, we are such creatures of habit that we resist change like the plague (wrong timing for this reference, but you get the emotion). We love the comfort and status quo so much that we have almost made it impossible for us to imagine a situation different from our routine. We cling to familiarity much beyond their expiry date and end up just making it ugly. I feel sunsets are a way of mother nature reminding us to let go of something as beautiful as a bright sunny day and that endings can be beautiful too. That when tomorrow comes, you get a clean, fresh slate to rise again. Is that not a brilliant way to live?

A photo story below of the best sunrises and sunsets I have managed to catch

Sunset – KeyWest, Florida

Sunset_El Nido, Philippines

Sunrise – Bandhavgarh, India

Sunrise, Masai Mara, Kenya

Sunrise – Angkor Wat

Sunrise – Munnar, India

Sunrise, Amboseli, Kenya

A few beautiful sunsets that I don’t have the right images for

  1. Sunsets from Marine Drive, Bombay
  2. Sunrises in Marina Beach, Chennai
  3. Sunsets in Radhanagar Beach, Andaman Islands, India
  4. Sunsets in Abisko, Norway
  5. Sunsets in Hikkaduwa, Sri Lanka

For all wanderlusts out there, I hope these photographs transport you to these magical landscapes. As there is still a long way to go before we can hit the road again to catch more such sunsets and sunrises.
